High profile diversity champion secures first nursing director job
A nurse leader who has built respect for her role in trying to tackle NHS diversity issues has secured her first executive director position, after a steady climb up the ladder over the past three decades.
Karen Bonner has been appointed as chief nurse at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and will start in her new role at the end of March.

She will join the trust from her current post of planned care divisional director of nursing at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
She is the first generation of her family born in the UK.
Her mother and father came to England as part of the Windrush Generation from Barbados and Jamaica, respectively, and met in London.
Ms Bonner said making her parents proud had been one of the main motivators throughout her career and life in general.
